Voluntourism - Thailand - Laos

Volunteer work which is meaningful to all concerned requires careful advance planning with local communities, and must be monitored while taking place – whether by individuals or groups, and for any length of time. Cultural Preservation, Rural Development, Tsunami Relief, Education and Medical Assistance number among the types of projects we have facilitated in Thai & Lao communities.

GROUPS: Our guides & liaisons work on-site with groups undertaking larger result-based projects (water supply systems / building new schools & community center buildings / training projects and English Camps). Group projects can last from several days to several months, but most groups will have a 2-week itinerary which might include 9 days of volunteer work and several days visiting important local sites. Many groups will raise money for their projects. Sometimes we match donor funds with a group who will supply actual labor.

INDIVIDUALS: Because we cannot provide a large support staff for individual volunteers, we place individual volunteers in village & school situations located close to one of our two offices; in either the World Heritage town of Luang Prabang Laos, or the quiet Mekong-side Nakorn Phanom in “ISAN” (NE Thailand).

Individuals tend to volunteer longer, sometimes staying in-country as long as 6 or 12 months, teaching at a rural school.
